after a long treacherous day in the sun i met a wizard artist that spoke to me about life, love, and friendships. i asked if he would move in and get bunk beds with me and he agreed on the condition that he gets the top bunk. i of course obliged.
if you know me, then you know i love the big lebowski. i had heard in the past that the dude was based on a real person in the hollywood scene but didn't know who. well i found out it is jeff dowd (not a secret in any way) a successful producer and major role in the coen brother's success. obviously the dude is not based entirely on dowd as he's not a total waste of space, but it was more the attitude, attire, and overall essence that was the inspiration for jeff bridges character. the big lebowski has spawned a huge following of loyal, obsessive fans and really helped dowd's career in a way.. shining light on him where it wasn't shown before. there's lebowski fest, the book “the dude abides: classic tales and rebel rants making our future the best of times” (which i want), and the fact that dowd travels the country speaking about the dude and his royal dudeness.. totally epic.

In the summertime when the weather is hot You can stretch right up and touch the sky When the weather's fine You got women, you got women on your mind Have a drink, have a drive Go out and see what you can find
i've started to read slapstick by kurt vonnegut and haven't gotten very far. i've been on a dry spell in the reading department and was advised not to read this book as it's said to be one of vonnegut's worst, but decided i'd give it a go. i need to stop by goodwill soon for more books/records but every time i say i'm going to i get side tracked.
READ MORE BOOKS
on a side note.. i feel like i should be at the beach today. but alas i have to work. fuck this pesky 5 day work week. i'm already on weekend mode...
i'm finally back from nyc and exhausted to say the least. i'll upload photos soon to share. while i was there i happened upon a shop in the lower east side by the name of in god we trust. i had heard of them before from refinery29 but had never given them much thought.. big mistake! i went to the ludlow location on the lower east side and was in love with the overall aesthetic of the clothing/jewelry/decor. i am very eclectic by nature and the store definitely tickled my fancy. i'm crazy about dainty jewelry as i've mentioned in the past and that's what really caught my eye. i wish i would have taken photos myself but you can shop the store through refinery29 or if you're in new york, please go check them out. they have three locations and i definitely recommend taking a look at their website which is: www.ingodwetrustnyc.com.
hold your head high, little darling. you'll make it home again. to a place you once knew long ago, a time to pretend. you'd rather look back than forward to what you used to know. but i wouldn't blame you for it cuz the heaviness only grows.
