working class hero

As soon as your born they make you feel small,
By giving you no time instead of it all,
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school,
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool,
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years,
Then they expect you to pick a career,
When you can't really function you're so full of fear,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV,
And you think you're so clever and classless and free,
But you're still fucking peasents as far as I can see,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
There's room at the top they are telling you still,
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill,
If you want to be like the folks on the hill,
A working class hero is something to be.
A working class hero is something to be.
If you want to be a hero well just follow me,
If you want to be a hero well just follow me.

i don't even own ah gun.

let alone many guns that would necessitate an entire rack.

why is it that most girls (not to be sexist) don't recognize or remember movie quotes and guys can spout off the entire movie word for word with little to no effort?

"death to the fascist insect that preys upon the life of the people”

don't get me wrong.. i am not one to support domestic terrorists. i do, however, identify with the cause they were fighting for. same goes for the weathermen but that's a whole other can of worms i don't feel like opening up.

sigur rós

it's funny how you can forget about a good thing. i used to listen to sigur rós in highschool when i wasn't too busy trying to be punk rock. i honestly forgot how good they were (which now seems impossible). i love how their music can overwhelm your emotions and you don't know if you want to laugh or cry. and by the way.. their videos are amazing. they are definitely more than just musical artists and have really taken it to a whole other level of epicness. i'm in love forever and want to feel what i feel when i listen to their music about things going on in my own life. perhaps some day i will. <3

weeding

jules and i weeded her whole backyard (for the most part) on sunday. we'll be taking before and after photos and i'll share the progress or what not on here. we still need to go in and make sure all the roots are out, put weed killer down, and fertilize the whole thing. there is also this huge thorny bush/tree thing back there with fuschia flowers that will be chopped down this weekend. that thing stabbed both of us.. her in the leg and me in the arm. it doesn't want to die. also, weeding is a great workout and i recommend it to everyone... i'm sore as hell.

rock and roll circus

so i got the rolling stones' rock and roll circus on dvd for my birthday along with the soundtrack on vinyl. haven't had a chance to watch the movie or listen to the soundtrack yet but i'm anxiously awaiting the time when i'll be able to. why does it feel like i have no time to do anything these days?..

thumbelina.

if you're looking for me this weekend, i'll be in the garden (well, julie's garden rather). i'm mentally preparing myself for the trip to home depot and strenuous weeding. it's worth it.

you know when you've been searching..

for a song in the depths of your mind and you can't figure it out for what seems like forever? this is that song for me.

Townes Van Zandt - Rex's Blues

Ride the blue wind high and free
she'll lead you down through misery
leave you low, come time to go
alone and low as low can be

If I had a nickel I'd find a game
If I won a dollar I'd make it rain
If it rained an ocean I'd drink it dry
and lay me down dissatisfied

Legs to walk and thoughts to fly
eyes to laugh and lips to cry
a restless tongue to classify
all born to grow and grown to die

So tell my baby I said so long
tell my mother I did no wrong
tell my brother to watch his own
and tell my friends to mourn me none

I'm chained upon the face of time
feelin' full of foolish rhyme
there ain't no dark till something shines
I'm bound to leave this dark behind

Ride the blue wind high and free
she'll lead you down through misery
leave you low, come time to go
alone and low as low can be
